Ukraine: Odesa hit by ‘very powerful’ strikes for second night in a row | DW News

World News

Moscow launched airstrikes on Ukraine’s southern Odesa region, Oleg Kiper, the local governor, said on Wednesday. The strikes marked Russia’s second consecutive night of attacks on Odesa. Air alerts were issued for more than a dozen regions across Ukraine and residents in the Odesa region were asked to stay in shelters. On Tuesday, a Russian strike damaged facilities at the Odesa port. The Odesa attacks are linked to a retaliation pledge made by Moscow after a blast occurred on a bridge in Russia-ruled Crimea on Monday. Moscow blamed Ukraine for the attack and shortly after withdrew from an agreement that allowed Ukrainian grain to reach world markets via the Black Sea.
