Canada to increase oil production to offset reliance on Russia

As the West aims to stop relying on Russian energy, Canada is set to increase its own oil and gas production. European countries have been asking Canada for help with their energy. On Thursday, the country announced it can increase its oil and gas production by the end of 2022, with up to 200,000 barrels of oil a day, and up to 100,000 equivalent barrels of natural gas. Abigail Bimman looks at whether those numbers can compare to Russia’s output, and how this plan affects Canada’s climate goals.
